I’m a full-time Massage Therapist based in the Clarksville Tennessee area. I offer a holistic approach to wellness through therapeutic bodywork from the comfort of your home.
A little bit about me: I'm Afton Chandler-West LMT. I was born and raised in Clarksville Tn. I've always had a calling for the healing arts. But I wasn't sure which avenue to take. I became a CNA in 2008 but quickly realized that I was drawn to a more holistic approach to healing. I received my Level 1 Reiki Practitioner Certification in 2009. But I needed a more hands-on and scientific approach. I always thought massage was something done to pamper and only offered in a spa. So when I learned there was a  clinical/therapeutic side to massage, I was determined that was my route to take. But life and a little procrastination got in my way. I worked as a welder for over eight years and started a family. I graduated from Nashville School of Massage Therapy in March of 2019. I became licensed and insured shortly after. I decided to offer mobile massage because I believe therapeutic bodywork is for EVERY body. That includes individuals that are unable to travel due to a medical disability. Or for individuals that are uncomfortable undressing in a strange room. Or just for the clients that don't want to drive after with the infamous "massage brain".
"Massage Brain" is caused by the release of endorphins- the brain chemicals that produce feelings of wellbeing. Stress hormones ( adrenalin, cortisol, and norepinephrine) are reduced. Studies show that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system. Massage is one of the oldest forms of healing. Some of the physical benefits of massage therapy include: reduced muscle tension, improved circulation, stimulation of the lymphatic system, relaxation, increased joint mobility and flexibility, improved recovery of soft tissue injuries, and reduced anxiety and depression.
